Momo (Nepali Dumplings)
- Ingredients:
- For the dough:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup water
- For the filling:
- 1/2 lb ground chicken or pork
- 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
- 1 tbsp minced garlic
- 1 tbsp minced ginger
- 1/2 cup finely chopped cabbage
- 1/2 cup finely chopped carrot
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- Salt and pepper
- For the dough:
- Directions:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Gradually add water and knead until you have a smooth and elastic dough.
- Cover the dough and let it rest for 30 minutes.
- In another mixing bowl, combine ground meat, onion, garlic, ginger, cabbage, carrot, cilantro, soy sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- Roll out the dough into thin circles, about 3 inches in diameter.
- Place a small amount of filling in the center of each circle. Fold the dough in half and pinch the edges together to seal the dumpling.
- Place the dumplings in a steamer basket and steam for 10-12 minutes until cooked through.
- Serve hot with a dipping sauce made of soy sauce, vinegar, and chili oil. Enjoy your homemade momos!
